Bringing a renewed energy to versatile constructions and styling.
Streetwear - From sculpturally cerebral constructions to paired-down exhibitions of contemporary luxury, Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER continues to serve as a creator of attractive garments and expanded confidence. The Japanese designer’s latest for the Fall/Winter 2023 season still has its roots in multifaceted design techniques but presents a calmer outlook on everyday dressing.
Entitled “kosmiche,” the new collection weaves cultural and street styles – bringing a renewed energy to versatile pieces and styling. Outerwear garments appear with overcoats, slightly oversized jackets, duffle coats and raw-edge relaxed shoulder coats. Although several of the pieces remain rather traditional, there are select garments like a black denim jacket with embroidered detailing and a red/blue/black technical cheetah print puffer that catch the eye. Additionally, the brand linked up with Danish poet Kamilla Tolnø for a range of multicolored varsity jackets with the phrase, “A wolf will never be a pet,” which comes from her poetry book, The Wolf.
The same attention extends to knitwear, which harbors classic cable knit sweaters and argyle v-necks alongside a stone blue/mocha/black cardigan and crewneck sweater. Other standout knitwear pieces include remixed drop-shoulder striped sweaters with matching scarves and graphic print crewnecks. Next up is tailoring which posits conventional suit constructions alongside contemporary wrinkle-effect suit in black and camel.
Elsewhere in the collection are both slim and straight-fit pants with embroider leg, a star-print coordinating set and more. Finishing off Takahashi’s latest are accessories like berets, scarves, fedoras, caps, graphic beanies and embroidered beanies.
